Craig Girvan Floorball School

G10 Craig Girvan Floorball School provides coaching within Hawick and the Scottish Borders area working with the Hawick Hawks Floorball Club and several schools on a weekly basis with Paul Scott, the Hawick Primary Schools Active Schools Coordinator, Ewan Lindores, Hawick High School and Jedburgh Active Schools Coordinator and Lorna Esson Active Schools Coordinator for the Kelso Cluster.

About Floorball - Floorball, a type of floor hockey, is an indoor team sport which was developed in Sweden in the 1970's. Floorball is most popular in areas where the sport has developed such as the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. Floorball is quickly gaining popularity in the UK.

The G10 Craig Girvan Floorball School is owned and run by Craig Girvan. Craig has a wealth of knowledge and experience in Floorball having started playing in the mid 1990's.

Floorball Curriculum Vitae

Player/Coach early 1990’s with Trinity Floorball Club which grew from Trinity Youth Club Instrumental, with Chapel Floorball Club, in creating Scottish Floorball League Part of team who won British Championships – Trinity Floorball Club in 1999 and in 2000 with Chapel Floorball Club Played for Team GB at World Cup in 2000/2002/2004 and 2006. Retired from International Floorball in 2006 Started playing with Chapel in 2002 achieving further honours with them in the Scottish Championships and Scottish Cup Winners Played in European Cup in 2005 with Cotswold Cobras in Sweden Established Hawick Hawks in 2007 introducing Floorball to young people in Hawick.

Working with the support and backing of Hawick Schools Active Schools Coordinator Paul Scott, started weekly training sessions in Hawick Primary Schools Finish playing with Chapel in 2012 after 10 years to concentrate in pushing forward with Hawick Hawks. Entered SFL 2012/2013 finishing seventh and eighth in 2013/2014 Highlight so far runners up 2016, 2018 and 2019 Adult nationals 2018 4th place 2012 Hawick Hawks entered GB Championships under 13 finishing second 2013 Hawick Hawks entered UKFF National Championships, under 13 and under 16 both achieved third place 2014 Hawick Hawks entered UKFF National Championships under 13 finishing 4th and under 16 winning the Championship. First Scottish Junior Team to become National Floorball Champions 2019 u13 National Floorball champions 2013 Started G10 Craig Girvan Floorball School 2013 Commenced Floorball coaching at Hawick High School 2014

Hawick Hawks current have three teams, Under 13, Under 16 and Adults, currently have 2 u13 teams ,u16 and 2 adult teams. Two Hawick Hawks players chosen to play for Team GB Under 19 at Championships in Spain 2016 Hawks had 4 players at Championships 2018 in Italy. 2014 Scotland Under 16 played England Under 16, coached by Craig Girvan and comprising of Hawick Hawks players In 2018 started Scotland Development teams u16 and u19 to aid players in their quest to play for GB.
